Which Ottawa-area communities are on your service map?

Our core map covers Ottawa plus the surrounding communities listed on our Service Areas page – if you don't see your community listed, call us to confirm.

Is there any cost to have you come measure and quote my project?

No – the on-site visit, measuring and written quote are all free, with no obligation to book the work.

What railing materials does Railing Experts Ottawa install?

Wood, powder-coated aluminum, welded wrought iron, tempered glass and stainless cable, on both interior and exterior stairs and railings.

Will my project need a building permit?

It depends on the scope of work – a like-for-like railing replacement usually doesn't need one, while new structural work or a full staircase rebuild often does. We confirm this plainly before you commit to anything.

What's the difference between the 900mm and 1,070mm guard height rules?

900mm is the Ontario Building Code minimum inside an individual dwelling unit (and for some low-height single-dwelling exterior guards); 1,070mm is the general minimum for commercial and common-area guards. Which one applies depends on your specific property.

Does cold weather stop railing work in Ottawa?

Not usually – most installation and repair jobs proceed through the winter. Large jobs needing fresh concrete or excavation are the main exception, since those depend on the ground thawing.

If only part of my railing is damaged, do I have to replace the whole thing?

Not necessarily – when the posts and underlying structure are still sound, we can often repair or replace just the damaged section.

Do you take on projects for condo corporations and commercial buildings, or only houses?

Both – we regularly work with property managers, condo boards and commercial owners in addition to individual homeowners.

From first call to finished job, how long should I expect a project to take?

A single repair or short handrail is often done in one visit; a full deck railing or new staircase typically runs from several days to a few weeks depending on material lead times.

What's the easiest way to start the quote process?

Call, use the contact form, or run the cost calculator for a ballpark figure first – any of those gets you to a free on-site visit.
